Description Changelog

Description

OpenVPN for Android is a free open-source client that allows you to connect to OpenVPN servers directly from your phone, without root and without any complex firmware manipulations. The app works on Android 4.0 and above, uses the system's standard VPNService API, and is suitable for those who want to set up a secure connection through a corporate, university, or personal VPN server.

Features of OpenVPN for Android

The app is built on the basis of the original OpenVPN project and is not a commercial service - it does not sell access to servers and does not provide free internet. It is exactly a client: the user connects it to an already existing server, whether it's a corporate network or a third-party VPN provider's service. Importing profiles is possible directly from an SD card or from the device's internal memory, which is convenient when working with configuration files. It's worth noting separately that the app uses its own version of OpenSSL, protected from the Heartbleed vulnerability - an important detail for those who pay attention to connection security.

Modes and capabilities

The app supports Tun mode, which has been the standard for Android since version 4.0. TAP mode is not supported on mobile devices due to the limitations of the operating system itself. A beta version is available for those who want to test new features before the official release, however the beta is released irregularly and is used by the developer mainly for pre-release testing. The interface has been translated into several languages, and the project's community is open to volunteer translators.

Who is OpenVPN for Android suitable for

The app is designed for users who already have access to an OpenVPN server - employees of companies with corporate VPN infrastructure, students with access to university resources, or clients of commercial VPN providers that support the OpenVPN protocol. This app will not suit those looking for a ready-made "tap and connect" solution. You can download OpenVPN for Android on Android for free as an APK file without registration. It is a reliable open-source tool that remains one of the most transparent VPN clients on the market.
