Description

Odd Machines: Mechanical Boxes is a three-dimensional puzzle in the escape-room genre. The hero, a treasure hunter, sets off to an old temple for the Stone of Silence. There are no locked rooms in the usual sense here: their place is taken by strange Victorian mechanisms, and each one literally has to be taken apart screw by screw to move forward. Those who enjoy leisurely tinkering with levers, gears and hidden compartments will take a liking to this game.

How the mechanical puzzles are structured

Every machine here is a separate puzzle to crack. You need to find hidden parts, figure out how the components are connected to each other, and work out the correct sequence of actions. The puzzles mix classic logic, architectural puzzles and quirky Victorian technology, so the same solution almost never repeats. The controls are smooth. The temple responds to the player's every move: shift a part — and somewhere a new passage opens or the surroundings change.

What makes it worth reaching the finale

The goal is to collect 8 fragments of the Stone of Silence. Once the player has all the pieces, they find themselves in a mystical scene where the artifact must be assembled using numerical puzzles. Only then will the temple let the hero go. Much here relies on sound: the effects and melodies are chosen so that the mechanisms feel almost tangible. The interface is translated into nine languages, and the right one switches on automatically according to the device's settings.

Who it's for

The game is designed for fans of escape rooms and tactile puzzles, for whom thoughtfulness matters more than speed. The first three levels are free, so you can check out the style without spending anything. Want to test your wits — download Odd Machines: Mechanical Boxes on android: just download the APK file and install it on your smartphone.
