Description
Lapse 2: Before Christ is a text quest with elements of a visual novel, set in Egypt in 1750 BC. It's a prequel to the game Lapse: Forgotten Future, where the player ruled the country as president. Now, instead of the seat of the head of state, there's the pharaoh's throne, and instead of modern threats, there are palace intrigues, mythology, and the struggle for power in the ancient world. The game is designed for those who value storytelling and want every decision to truly change something.
Features of Lapse 2: Before Christ
The plot reveals events preceding the first part: a former enemy becomes an ally, and many questions left unanswered after the original finally get their answers. You can start without prior knowledge of the first game, though fans of the original will find plenty of references and details here that put everything in place. The atmosphere is conveyed through text, music, and visual design: deserts, temples, secret cults, and political conspiracies come together to form a complete picture of the era. A version with the Premium mod is available, unlocking extended features without additional purchases.
Plot and Choices
Gameplay is built around reading the story and making decisions at key points in the narrative. The player's choices affect not only the development of the plot but also the fate of the entire Egyptian state - and perhaps something even greater. Several endings make replaying meaningful: it's interesting to see how history would change with different decisions. The characters are detailed enough that you'll grow attached to them before the story takes its next unexpected turn.
Who Lapse 2: Before Christ Is For
The game will appeal to fans of text quests and visual novels who prefer stories with weight - where choices aren't decorative but actually influence the outcome. Fans of the ancient Egyptian setting, political intrigue, and mythology will also find plenty here that feels familiar and enjoyable. Those looking for fast-paced gameplay with reflexes and action will likely not find this game suitable.
