Huawei unveiled the Pura 80 smartphone lineup: focus on camera and design
Huawei held an international presentation of its new flagship Pura 80 smartphone series in Dubai. Although the lineup has already been introduced in the Chinese market, the devices have now been shown on the global stage as well.
Available models and camera focus
So far, only two models are available in international markets - Pura 80 Pro and Pura 80 Ultra. The base version will probably be introduced later.
The main thing that Huawei bets on in this series is mobile photography. Smartphones received advanced cameras with one of the largest sensors - 1 inch format, as well as updated image processing algorithms and work with two telephoto lenses.
Cameras with pro settings
Both models feature a 1-inch sensor camera with an intelligent color reproduction system, which is especially noticeable when shooting in low-light conditions. The camera is able to deliver accurate colors and provide good detail even at night. The lens also features adjustable aperture from f/1.6 to f/4.0.
The flagship Pura 80 Ultra is highlighted by a dual telephoto lens with a 1/1.28-inch sensor. The camera supports optical zoom of 3.7x and 10x through two different focal lengths.
The proprietary HUAWEI XMAGE system is now equipped with new styles and filters, as well as adaptive image processing - be it portraits, night landscapes or architecture. Video can be shot in 4K 60fps on all cameras, with the ability to switch between them right during recording. Shooting in 4K HDR Vivid is also supported.
Design and Usability
The smartphones retain the recognizable look: a triangular camera unit with metal accents and massive rings around the lenses. However, in this generation, the back cover of both models became glossy, which makes the device marred - prints remain literally in seconds, especially on the black, red and gold versions.
The Ultra model comes with a matte case with a geometric pattern - the same as last year's lineup. The case is high-quality and protects the device well from bumps and dirt.
In addition, Pura 80 Ultra received a new protective glass Kunlun Glass of the second generation, which, according to Huawei, has become 16 times more resistant to scratches and 25 times stronger in case of a fall, compared to conventional glass.
Performance and charging
Both models get a 5170 mAh battery, 100W fast wired charging and 80W wireless charging. The devices also feature a smart button that can be programmed to launch the desired function - camera, flashlight, and others.
For calls in noisy environments, there is a new noise canceling algorithm that improves call quality.
When on sale and how much do they cost?
Huawei Pura 80 Pro and Ultra will go on sale by the end of July. They are expected to be available in other countries, including our region, at the same time.
