Description Changelog

Description

Fermata Media Player is a free open-source media player that covers three directions at once: audio, video, and IPTV channel playback. Weighing in at about 3 MB, the app packs in functionality that's hard to find in a single tool. It's designed for those who want to manage all their media content without extra apps and without intrusive ads.

Features of Fermata Media Player

The player runs on several engines at once - MediaPlayer, ExoPlayer, and VLC - allowing you to pick the optimal option for a specific format or device. Subtitle support is implemented in a non-standard way: two languages are displayed simultaneously, and subtitles work not only for video but also for audio files in SRT and VTT formats. It's also worth noting the integration with network storage - SFTP, SMB, and Google Drive connect directly, without third-party file managers.

As for playlist handling, the app supports CUE, M3U formats and direct URLs, and remembers the last played track and its position. Audiophiles will appreciate the built-in equalizer, bass booster, and sound virtualizer with individual settings for each file.

Playback and IPTV Capabilities

Fermata Media Player handles IPTV confidently: it supports electronic program guide (EPG) and channel archives. Local and network media files are played back in a unified interface, and flexible sorting and folder organization make navigation in large collections easier. Playback timer, bookmarks, shuffle, and repeat - all of this is available without diving into complex settings. The app is also compatible with Android Auto, making it a convenient solution for use in the car.

Who Fermata Media Player is For

The app is suited for users who store their media library locally or on network drives and want to manage it without subscriptions or cloud services. It will appeal to those who watch IPTV, listen to audiobooks with subtitles, or regularly switch between different file formats. For those looking for a simple streaming client without extra settings, the player may seem excessive.

You can download Fermata Media Player for Android for free as an APK file. Installation takes up minimal space, and updates don't change the familiar interface. For those who value control over their media content, this is one of the few open-source players where functionality isn't sacrificed for simplicity.
